Iraq Visa & eVisa Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Iraq visa applications, requirements, processing times, documents, fees, entry conditions and application support.
Eligibility & Applying
Eligible travellers may submit a request online. Eligibility depends on your nationality, the travel document you hold, the purpose of your visit, and the visa categories available at the time of application. Use our processing-time page to see the Group A and Group B country lists.
Yes. The application is completed online — you fill in a guided form, upload a digital photo and passport image, and pay securely. There is no need to attend in person for eligible nationalities.
For eligible eVisa nationalities, no in-person visit is required. The request is handled electronically. If your nationality or visa category is not eligible for the online route, a different process may apply.
Yes. You may complete an application on behalf of a family member or another traveller, provided the information and documents you submit are accurate and match that person’s passport exactly.
Yes. Each traveller, including children and infants, requires their own visa. Prepare a separate application with the child’s passport and photo for each accompanying minor.
Documents & Requirements
Generally: a valid passport, a clear digital photo of the passport data page, a recent digital personal photo, accurate personal and travel information, and a payment method for secure online payment.
Your passport should generally have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your intended entry or travel date. Travelling on a passport close to expiry is a common cause of delays. Confirm the requirement that applies to your nationality before applying.
A recent digital photo that is sharp and evenly lit, with a plain background, no filters, no heavy shadows or glare, and the full face clearly visible. Avoid screenshots of screens and edited images.
Provide a sharp, complete and unedited image of the passport data page — all four corners visible, no glare, no cropping. If you photograph it, do it flat in daylight with the whole page in frame.
Processing Time & Visa Types
It depends on your nationality. Group A applications are typically processed within 6 to 72 hours, while Group B applications are typically processed within 8 to 18 business days. If a different processing time is specifically displayed to you before submission, that displayed processing time applies. Processing time starts only after payment is completed and all required information and documents have been received. These are estimates, not guarantees, and can be affected by document quality, completeness, and any additional review.
Group A nationalities are typically processed within 6 to 72 hours, while Group B nationalities go through a longer review window of 8 to 18 business days. The group is determined by your nationality, not by your choice.
For Group A, two options are typically offered: a 30-Day Tourist & Visit Visa and a 60-Day Ordinary Visa. Group B applicants are processed under a separate category. The options visible to you depend on your nationality and the applicable Iraqi rules.
The Group A 30-Day Tourist & Visit Visa is valid for entry within 90 days from issue, with a permitted stay of up to 30 days.
The Group A 60-Day Ordinary Visa is valid for entry within 60 days from issue, with a permitted stay of up to 60 days.
The eVisa is typically issued for a single entry. Confirm the entry conditions printed on the visa you receive, as these follow the document actually issued.
When approved, the visa documentation is delivered to you by email. Keep an eye on the inbox you registered, including the spam folder.
Yes. Print a copy and carry it with your passport, or keep it accessible on your phone. Having it ready helps at check-in and on arrival.
Apply with comfortable time to spare — especially for Group B nationalities (8 to 18 business days) and during religious seasons when processing capacity may be reduced. Avoid booking non-refundable travel on the assumption a visa will be issued by a specific date.
Corrections & Application Changes
Requests for further information are a normal part of review. We forward them to you promptly so you can respond quickly. Replying as soon as possible helps keep your application moving.
If you notice an error after submission, contact our support team with your application reference as soon as possible. Our team reviews every submission for common errors and will reach out if something needs correcting.
No. You must travel on the passport used for the application. The visa is linked to that specific document; using a different passport can prevent entry.
Check the validity window on your issued visa. The 30-day visa allows entry within 90 days from issue, and the 60-day visa within 60 days from issue. If your new dates fall outside that window, contact support before travelling.
Most eligible eVisa applications do not require a sponsor. Depending on your nationality or visa category, additional information may be requested during review.
Insurance is included in all three visa options: Group A 30-Day Tourist & Visit, Group A 60-Day Ordinary, and Group B.
Fees, Payment & Refunds
Secure online payment is used. Visa, Mastercard and American Express may be supported. Payment is taken before submission of your application.
The total online fee is USD 206 for the Group A 30-Day visa, USD 226 for the Group A 60-Day visa, and USD 256 for Group B. Each total combines the official visa fee (USD 160) with the Iraq Visa Assist service fee. Group B applicants may also need to pay a USD 50 cash arrival fee for the visa sticker where applicable — this is not included in the online payment.
Cancellation is not accepted after submission. Once the application has been submitted and payment completed, the application cannot be cancelled, and payment is non-refundable except when the applicant qualifies for a full refund under the conditions in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
A full refund will be issued if the visa is not received after the applicable processing time has fully passed and the delay was caused by Iraq Visa Assist or a processing failure on our side, or if we are unable to process or deliver the visa due to a failure on our side. No refund is available for delays or non-delivery caused by Iraqi authority or system delays, additional security or document requests, incorrect or incomplete applicant information, government holidays, or applicant failure to respond. Visa rejection or refusal does not qualify for a refund, and there are no partial refunds. See our Refund and Cancellation Policy for full details.
Visa rejection or refusal does not qualify for a refund. We will inform you of the decision and, where possible, explain any reasons provided. We cannot influence or reverse a refusal made by the relevant Iraqi authority.
Status, Entry & Support
We send status updates by email while your request is in progress. For a status check, contact support with your application reference and the email address used at application.
Entry points depend on the visa issued and the entry rules in force at the time. Confirm the permitted ports of entry on your issued visa and check the requirements for your route before travelling.
Check that all details on the visa are correct, print a copy or keep it accessible on your phone, and travel on the passport used in the application. Confirm your entry point and travel dates fall within the visa’s validity window.
Email support@iraqvisaassist.com with your question and, if you have already applied, your application reference. We aim to respond as quickly as we reasonably can, usually within one business day.
Iraq Visa Assist is an independent third-party application assistance service and is not an official Iraqi government website. Final visa approval is determined by the relevant Iraqi authorities. These answers are general guidance and may change.
