Timing
Processing Time
Processing timelines depend on your nationality. Group A applications are typically processed within 6 to 72 hours, while Group B applications are typically processed within 8 to 18 business days. If a different processing time is specifically displayed to you before submission, that displayed processing time applies. These are estimates, not guarantees.
Two processing groups
Eligible nationalities are grouped by the typical speed at which applications are handled. Group A nationalities usually receive a faster decision, while Group B nationalities should expect a longer review window. In both cases, apply with time to spare — especially during religious seasons when processing capacity may be reduced.
Factors that can affect timing
- Your nationality and the travel document you hold
- The visa category selected
- Document quality — unclear photos or scans often trigger a correction request
- Completeness and accuracy of the information submitted
- Any additional review or request for further information
- Weekends and public holidays, where these affect the offices involved
- Processing capacity of the relevant Iraqi authority at the time of submission
How to help your application move smoothly
Apply with time to spare, upload clear documents, double-check names and dates against your passport, and respond quickly to any message asking for more information. Keep an eye on the inbox you registered, including the spam folder.
No guaranteed delivery
Iraq Visa Assist cannot guarantee a processing time or an outcome, and cannot expedite a decision made by the relevant Iraqi authorities. Please do not book non-refundable travel on the assumption that a visa will be issued by a specific time.
